New Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging New Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging
The new Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation came into force in January 2009 based on the ‘Globally Harmonised Classification and Labelling of Chemicals’ (GHS) agreed internationally by the United Nations.
The regulation applies to substances from the 30th November 2010 and to preparations from the 31st May 2015. One of the responsibilities of the SIEFs is to agree on the classification and labelling requirements for a substance and need to be applied according to the above deadlines irrespective of the registration deadline for the substance.
For more guidance and information on GHS see the European Commissions website.
